4th of July Wreath - EASY!

I decided to whip up a 4th of July wreath today.
I tell you, it doesn't get any more simple than this:

I was inspired by a recent post HERE on Landee See, Landee Do. Take a look at her super cute creation...

And, be sure to stop by her blog for her own step by step directions.

Okay, here is a quick DIY tutorial of how I made this little wreath in under 20 minutes.

1. Step one, get your choice of wreath and wrap it with your favorite ribbon.

(Be careful of sneaky attack cats lurking in the background -they will try to steal your ribbon when you are not looking)

TIP: I purchased this wreath from the Dollar Store and had it on hand. I would have preferred a thicker wreath, and possibly a styrofoam one like on Landee See, Landee Do but I just didnt have one handy.

2.  Step two: If using a similar wreath to this, try using small amounts of super glue along the way to keep your pieces in place.  I used one roll of 15 foot ribbon which was not enough. I had a secondary ribbon which I used and decided to place streamers down from one section of he wreath. I simply tied off these ribbons like so:

3. Step 3:  Get out a piece of 12x12 scrapbook paper.  Fold it back and forth in an accordian style.  Cut in half lengthwise and then glue ends together to make a cool "firework" or circular shape.  Attach it wherever you like with ribbon.  I might go back and add two or three small ones for more flair :)

4: Step 4: You are done!  Here is sneaky attack cat Mashmo inspecting the final product:

And, here is the final product on the door:

What do you think?

Truthful Tuesday: Get Organized

Today's Truthful Tuesday is all about being ORGANIZED.

I just have to say,
"Doesn't it feel GOOD to be Organized?"

Here are my personal top 10 reasons for being organized:

1. It feels good
2. Your things don't get lost
3. You can teach your kids to put away their stuff
4. Things get broken when they are in the wrong spot (ie: not organized)
5. You don't buy multiples of the same item simply because you can't find the first one
6. It looks good (I LOVE a clean countertop!)
7. You have more space
8. You are aware of your "inventory"
9. You save money (see #4, #5 and #8 above)
10. NO clutter!

Here are some of my favorite photos from Pinterest for organizing your OFFICE!

Dinner: French Bread Pizza

For dinner this week we had French Bread Pizza!

I was inspired by THIS post by the wonderful gals at
How Does She.

The How Does She team posted their recipe on Monday and on Wednesday the MoMomma Family was enjoying this fab dinner!

Let me just tell you HOW easy this was to make!
And so incredibly yummy!
Ok... Here's the recipe according to MoMomma
  1. Preheat your oven to 400
  2. Cut one French Bread loaf in half both width wise and length wise.  You will end up with four equal sized pieces
  3. I lightly brushed each piece with butter and put them into the oven until light golden brown. This took about 8 minutes.
  4. Remove from oven and apply your favorite toppings.  I used canned pizza sauce and applied lightly so the bread didn't get soggy.  We then topped with mozzarella cheese and our favorite toppings: (KidMo- Turkey Pepperoni & Cheese, MoMomma- Turkey Pepperoni and Canadian Bacon, MoDaddy- Canadian Bacon and Mushrooms)
  5. Top with a little more grated cheese
  6. 6 Bake in oven for about 10 minutes or until cheese is melted

Everyone had their favorite toppings and it was delicious!

Feedback: 10 out of 10!

Total Cost: $8.50
French Bread $1.50
Turkey Pepperoni $2.00
Cheese $1.50
Canadian Bacon $2.00
Sauce $1.50
( LOTS of extra ingredients for future recipes this week
- average cost likely about $2.50 total! NICE! )

Truthful Tuesday: Temporary Tattoos

Today's Truthful Tuesday is going a little Controversial.
Call me ultra-conservative, but this is how I see it.

Kids should not wear temporary tattoos.

Let me tell you why.
Follow along would you?

( Link HERE to the Silhouette Machine site )

I've seen a lot of my friendly bloggers out there today pimping the Silhouette Machine today.

I hope I don't step on any of their crafty toes, but I'm a little disappointed in what I'm seeing out there.
And, I'd like to tell you why.

First and foremost, I have nothing against the bloggers or the Silhouette Machine.
I would personally LOVE to have a Silhouette and show you all of the cool creations I could make on this puppy.  The machine is quite and investment, and I think it is pretty cool that there is such a variety of ways you can use it.

Here is where my disappointment starts .... Temporary Tattoos.

I am 100% against letting a child have a temporary tattoo.

What message is this sending?
We are telling these young kids that it is okay to disfigure your body, cover it with images and literally desecrate it.

Okay, I understand that it is temporary and is in the name of ‘fun’. But truly, what message are we sending our kids?

It would be similar to handing your kid a package of those fake candy cigarettes (remember those?) or maybe a pretend bartender set with beer and wine to go along with that cute play kitchen you let them play with.

I don't know about you, but that would NOT be okay in my house.
See my point?
I think there as parents we need to be very careful what messages we send to our kids.
We can use something like a temporary tattoo as a teaching moment.

Endorsing a simple thing such as a temporary tattoo can have a lasting impression on a child.  It may lead to other experimentation down the road also.

Spiritual Side note: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has a firm opinion about tattoos. They believe your body is a Temple and that tattoos are like graffiti on the Temple. They simply don’t support them.

Think about it, they are physical damaging to your body.  Ouch.
Would you really encourage your child to do something that would damage their body?

As a convert to the Church this was something I had to accept and agree with.  I had not personally condoned tattoos prior to my joining the Church so it was easy for me to support.

I can tell you that I won’t be giving my own children temporary tattoos anytime soon. And, if my child receives a temporary tattoo in his goodie bag at a kid’s party, at school, or otherwise we will politely decline and return it.

I hope you will understand.
What is your personal opinion on the matter?
Won’t you leave me a comment and join the conversation?
